My research focuses on the role of vegetation and urban areas in the climate system. The goal is to contribute to a better understanding of land use and climate interactions and their implications for climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies. Fundamental research with process understanding is combined with application-oriented research using numerical and advanced statistical approaches. Regions
of interest cover Europe as well as Southeast Asia.
