Waste flows
Methodology:
Circle Economy Foundation
Goal:
Total waste generation
Total weight of waste generated in metric tons, broken down by waste composition (materials present in the waste: biomass, metals, non-metallic minerals...) and waste streams relevant to the sector of activity (tailings for mining, e-waste for electronics sector, food waste for agriculture or hospitality sectors). The total weight of waste generated can show the absolute volumes of waste generated by an organisation during a reporting period. In addition, it is necessary as a denominator to assess waste disposal and treatment performances. The composition of the waste generated can help identify recovery or disposal operations appropriate to the type of waste and to the specific materials present in the waste.
